PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Welcome to the Sarasota World Affairs Council (SWAC), serving the southwest coast of Florida. We are a member of the World Affairs Councils of America with more than 100 chapters in some 40 plus states and growing. Our mission is “to educate, inspire, and engage our community in international affairs and critical global issues.”

SWAC is a non-profit and non-partisan registered 501(c)3 organization.  Each year, from October to April, we feature a series of high-profile lectures on foreign affairs.  These are generally held at New College in the early evening, followed by a reception on the Bay where members can talk further with the speaker.  New College of Florida has generously provided the facilities for free public meetings and lectures on campus.  As opportunities arise, additional lectures and special activities are offered during the season.

Our Board believes that an important part of our mission is to reach out to students in our community and build the next generation of diplomats, development workers, teachers, and global citizens.  We are fostering these ideals through our High School Peer Mediation conflict resolution program.  Significant portions of our activities are supported by generous tax-deductible contributions from members, corporations, and other donors.  If you have questions about SWAC, please feel free to contact us at 941-487-4603 or info@sarasotawac.org.

If you are not already a member of SWAC, we hope you will consider becoming one.  Memberships help support the important work that SWAC – and all the World Affairs Councils across the country - are doing “to educate, inspire, and engage our community in international affairs and critical global issues.”

We hope to meet you at our forthcoming events.

Dr. Nat Colletta

President
