Mr. Ronnie C. Chan, Chairman of Hang Lung Properties Limited, Hong Kong, and President of the Asia Society, NYC, will discuss “the New Global Order, China's Rise, and Our Shared Future.” Dr. Fan Jeremy Zhang, Wall-Apelt Curator of Asian Art at The Ringling Museum of Art, will speak on “The Ringling’s Asian Initiative.”
The program will be Tuesday, November 25, at 6:00 p.m., in the Mildred Sainer Pavilion on the campus of the New College of Florida, 5313 Bay Shore Road. A reception will follow for SWAC members and The Ringling’s board and Friends of Asian Art, hosted by The Ringling in the Art Library of The Ringling Education Center.

Ronnie C. Chan is Chairman of Hang Lung Group Limited and its subsidiary Hang Lung Properties Limited. Following successes in Shanghai, Hang Lung has been investing US$11billion and building world-class commercial complexes in Tianjin, Shenyang, Jinan, Wuxi, Dalian, Kunming, and Wuhan. Mr. Chan also co-founded the Morningside Group and helped found the Calgary, Canada- based Morningside Music Bridge for young classical musicians. He founded and chairs the China Heritage Fund, is a co-founding director of The Forbidden City Cultural Heritage Conservation Foundation, Beijing, and is an Advisor and former Vice President of China Development Research Foundation in Beijing. Internationally, he is Co-Chair of the Board of Asia Society and Chairman of its Hong Kong Center, a Director of the Board of Peterson Institute for International Economics, a member of Council on Foreign Relations, National Committee on United States-China Relations, and Committee of 100. He is also Founding Chairman Emeritus of Asia Business Council. He serves or has served on the governing or advisory bodies of several think tanks and universities, including World Economic Forum, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, University of Southern California, East-West Center, Pacific Council on International Policy, Eisenhower Fellowships, and The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation.
Fan Jeremy Zhang received his MA from Vanderbilt University and his PhD from Brown University. Before coming to The Ringling, he held previous positions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the RISD Museum of Art, and the Museum of Art at Smith College. He has taught and has numerous refereed and invited pieces published in scholarly books and journals.
